In the Reserva Natural Palmarí you will get to know the faunal and floral biodiversity of the rainforest in different ways at the river Rio Javari. Starting from the visitors centre you will discover one of the last untouched primeval forests on our planet. Thereby a special trained guide accompanies you and informs you about this intact ecosystem.


The visitor centre of the Reserva Natural Palmarí

The visitor centre is located on the shore of the river Rio Javari in Brazil. Surrounded by the so-called terra firma forest with its net of waterways, it offers its guests the whole year round several options to discover the brazilian rainforest via kayak or by foot. Especially several day tours into the jungle, fishing trips, animal observations and canopying are popular activities. In the visitor centre there is a 15 meter high viewing platform, that offers a breathtaking panorama of the canopy of the forest.

1.Day: Arrival at the airport Leticica

You arrive the airport Leticia. Optionally you can be picked up at the airport. Then outboundprocess from Colombia and the entryprocess to Brazil can begin. You drive to the harbor of Tabatinga. With a boat it goes further to Benjamin Constante where you change to a taxi to Atalaia do Norte. The last stage is another boat trip on the river Rio Javari to "Reserva Natura Javari". Depending on the water gauge the trip duration is about 2,5 - 3,5 hours. At the Reserva Natural Palmarí you meet the Team of the Center after the Check-In. After the dinner you can go to bed or you can go to a night excursion.

2.Day: Angel excursion, forrestwalk or caiman observation

After the breakfast you can learn the traditional way of the angeltrade of the rainforest resident with rod and mesh. With a bit of luck you can see some river dolphin. You have the lunch in the visitor center. Afterwards you cross the river to Peru at the "Varzea-Forrest". During a walk you get informed about the flora and fauna. You visit a nativ village called Santa Rita. After the dinner you go to the last but maybe most exciting excursion of the day - a caiman and crocodile discover tour. On the way you can observate the animals in their natur and learn by capturing and releasing how to handle with them.  

3.Day: The Waterworld of the rainforest

Today we go to discover the forest "Terra fime". There you can swim in the natural water basin from the jungle rivers. After the lunch in the center you can visit the beach of the Javari river. There you get informed about the development and their utilization. Afterwards you can sun-bath or play volleyball. At the night you can go on a kajak tour and discover the water world and animals in the rainforest. 

4.Day: Canopying and visitation of two villages

Today, if desired you learn to canopying, the climb of tree crown stages. After the initiation of the equipment management as well as the security aspects you can start - discover the top of the rainforest and its residents. After the lunch you visit the Palmarí and Sao Pedro do Norte village. Afterwards you visit a fish and turtlefarm. After the dinner you have the opportunity to stay at the beach at night if the water gauge allows it. 

5. Day: Nativ trade art and night walks

After the initiation and the trip in a traditional wooden built canoe you get in touch with the nativ trade art in form of jewelry and cooking traditional dishes. But there are also very popular nativ tattoos - they are just temporary and disappear in time. After the dinner the night walk begins. There you get informed about  phosphorescent mushrooms. You can sleep in a hammock camp near a creek. 

6.Day: Participation at social joint project

After the breakfast you visit a traditionally village community. The person in charge of the projekt will initiate you to the project and gives information about their non-invasive living and the precaution to the security of the sensitive environment. For lunch you will have traditional brazilian barbecue "Rodizio" with the nativ residents. Afterwards you get invited by the village residents to initiate a activity - alternative there is time to play soccer. Back at the visitor center you eat dinner.

7.Day: Departure

After the breakfast you start the transit back to Tabatinga. In connection with the official leaving of Brasil you get to the airport of Leticia and the entry to Colombia. Occasionally if there is still enough time before you take the return flight you can visit a museum.
