Cycling and sailing trips – the freedom of the sea meets the beauty of the landscapes Experience trips that slow you down and inspire you at the same time: our cycling and sailing trips combine the vastness of the sea with the diversity of fascinating landscapes. While you relax on board a comfortable tall ship, you can discover coastlines, islands, and cultural treasures by bike – actively, enjoyably, and always close to the land and its people. Mediterranean dreams & Nordic lightness Whether you're cycling through the gently rolling hills of Tuscany, stopping off in small Etruscan villages and swimming in crystal-clear bays – or experiencing the impressive mix of coastline, islands and culture in the Öresund: every region has its own unique charm. In Denmark and Sweden, you can expect bike-friendly paths along historic harbors, quiet islands such as Ven, and lively cities such as Copenhagen and Malmö. The Nordic clarity, maritime flair, and sweeping views of the Baltic Sea create an atmosphere that is both calming and inspiring. Further south, the Italian coast seduces with its Mediterranean lifestyle, soft light, and culinary delights—a perfect backdrop for relaxed day trips where culture, nature, and enjoyment merge seamlessly. Polders, islands, and seas of flowers – diversity in the Netherlands On the Dutch North Sea coast, you will discover one of the most beautiful cycling regions in Europe. On the IJsselmeer, you will ride through green polder landscapes, visit historic trading towns such as Hoorn or Enkhuizen, and explore islands with their own unique history. Or you can enjoy the region around the Dutch Wadden Sea with its dunes, beaches, and unique fresh sea breeze. In spring, the Netherlands shows off its most colorful side: endless tulip fields, idyllic villages, and fascinating gardens such as Keukenhof make every day special. And if you prefer to relax in between, just stay on board and enjoy the day of sailing from the deck. Your floating hotel – comfort and adventure in perfect balance On our comfortable sailing ships, you will experience a maritime atmosphere, the warm hospitality of the crew, and delicious regional cuisine. Enjoy the freedom to be active or relax and unwind, whichever you prefer: set sail, feel the power of the wind, swim in hidden bays, or relax on deck with a good book. The wind determines the course – and that's exactly what makes every cycling and sailing trip a real adventure. Whether moderate guided stages, individual routes via GPS, or relaxing moments on deck: you can plan your vacation entirely at your own pace. Frequently asked questions about our Bike & Sail trips + Which bikes and e-bikes can I rent for the cycling and sailing trip? The bikes on board are unisex city bikes with a low entry and an upright and comfortable seating position: lightweight aluminum frame, responsive Shimano roller brakes (hand brakes), Shimano 7-speed gears, adjustable Selle Royal gel saddle, easy-to-operate frame lock Schwalbe Marathon anti-puncture tires. All this makes it a light, stable and reliable bike. There are three different frame sizes, please let us know your height when booking. Each rental bike has a removable pannier, an air pump and a repair kit on board, the use of which is included in the rental price. E-bikes:It is important that you are a safe cyclist and know how an electric bike works before you start your bike tour. The e-bike is an Azor Steps equipped with Nexus 7-speed gears and hand brakes. The Shimano crank motor (400 WH) offers 4 levels of assistance. The e-bikes have a comfortable gel saddle and a frame lock (or comparable brand / similar model). + What is the daily schedule? In the morning there is a rich cyclists' breakfast, usually in buffet form. Here you can put together a packed lunch consisting of sandwiches, fruit, a snack and a drink. After breakfast or after a stage by boat, you go ashore and start your cycle tour. The daily routes are planned so that there is enough time for sightseeing and breaks. In the afternoon or evening, you rejoin the ship at an agreed meeting point and are welcomed on board with coffee and tea. In the evening, the chef serves a three-course meal or a buffet. Drinks are available at the ship's bar. + Do I have to go on bike tours during my cycling & sailing trip? Individual bike tours are offered. You will receive a detailed cycling map and we will suggest a route for you. You can decide for yourself which route you want to take and at what pace you want to explore the surroundings, there is no tour guide and you can also skip tours. Every evening, the crew will explain the next day's route and give you helpful tips. In an emergency, you can contact the ship by telephone at any time and the crew will help you solve your problem. + How fit do I need to be for bike tours? The bike tours on most cycle and boat trips are easy, as the landscape is very flat. This means that the routes are also suitable for less fit people. The daily distances are between 25 and 60 km, although on some days there are options to extend or shorten the tours. If you simply want to relax for a day in between, make yourself comfortable on board. For trips with higher fitness requirements, the route lengths are adjusted accordingly. You will find more detailed information in the respective tour descriptions. For individual cycle tours, you will receive information material and maps for the daily cycle tours, which will be explained in advance by the on-board tour guide. Your ship usually docks in or near the center of your destination so that you can take a stroll through the city in the evening. + What language is spoken on the sailing ship? On board the Atlantis most crew members and tour guides speak German and English, some speak Dutch, Italian or French. The daily route briefings are held in German and English.
